The Air Filter is the Most Important Filter on Any Vehicle; Motorcycles are No Exception Most contaminants enter the engine through the air intake. AMSOIL Ea Motorcycle Air Filters provide superior air filtration performance. Their synthetic nanofiber media traps and holds more wear-causing dirt particles than K&N and Harley-Davidson filters while maintaining improved airflow for maximum performance and fuel economy.
AMSOIL provides Ea Motorcycle Air Filters for Harley-Davidson, Honda GoldWing and virtually all other domestic and metric applications, plus specialty filters for Baron Big Air Intake and S&S Carburetor Systems. AMSOIL penetration into the motorcycle market has been impressive. There is no reason every bike protected with AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils can’t also be equipped with AMSOIL Ea Air and Oil Filters. Multiple V-Twin and Metric Applications Synthetic Nanofiber Media Maximum Airflow Maximum Capacity Extended Service Life Studies on the ingestion of particulates show that increased dust passing the air filter results in additional engine wear. The greater efficiency of AMSOIL Ea air filters means fewer contaminants entering the engine. |

NEW - Motorcycle Oil whitepaper study. Tests performed by Southwest Research show 15 top rated 40W and 50W motorcycle oils head to head in 12 critical tests including Viscosity Sheer Stability, Foam Control, Gear Performance, Price and High Temperature/High Sheer Viscosity. Sever top brands fail out of grade even before the end of a typical testing cycle. They certainly didn't think anyone would spend the $200,000 it takes to run these tests so you could see where they rank in quality. AMSOIL says "You can clearly see we are not the best in every test but when you consider our performance across the board conclusively and where it counts, we offer the consumer unmatched quality." Download the Motorcycle Oil Study - (1MB PDF File) Note from Ches Cain: And according to the thousands of motorcycle customers of mine there is not one bike out there operating to their full potential until the operator consummates the use of AMSOIL. The Corporate office at AMSOIL believes in giving the consumer the purest of quality - thus the difference. Very few products exist today which succeed complete based on results. And our competitors know it! How can a 20W50 protect my transmission when it calls for a 90WT, 85W90 or 75W90?The answer is simple. The viscosity for engine oils and gear oils are not part of the same scale. In fact a SAE 90 gear oil may actually have less viscosity than a SAE50 (20W50). The illustration clearly explains why. Now you know something most mechanics don't know.
The introduction of AMSOIL Ea Air Filters represents a major breakthrough in filtration technology. For the first time, revolutionary nanofiber technology is available to the Motorcycle market. It is another first for AMSOIL!
Nanofiber technology has been used exclusively in heavy duty applications, including the US ARMY Abrams M1 tank. These filters simply do not degrade or hamper air-flow within their life span - guaranteed! AMSOIL has brought this technology to the auto/light truck market and now to motorcycles. AMSOIL Ea Air Filters provide the absolute best filtration and with an unmatched 4-year/100,000-mile guarantee, AMSOIL Ea Air Filters save money!

See how AMSOIL MCF 10W40 and MCV 20W50 provides maximum performance and cost effectiveness when looking beyond the marketing. This document attempts to dismisses myths, rumors and mistruths common to motorcycle oils. Motul 300V Competition was the most expensive but scored ninth in the SAE 50 group. Yamalube scored so bad that we don't believe even Yamaha knows how lacking in quality their top selling oil is. (Until this study reaches them) but their customers have already told me the difference noticed immediately when switched out to AMSOIL. Note: Lucas High Performance Motorcycle 10W40 and 20W50 was recently added to our tests. Out of the bottle their 10W40 didn't even meet the viscosity which is false advertising. There are no batch #'s on the Lucas products bought off the shelf for the test incase there were to be a quality control problem. Lucas's 10W40 (tested as a 10W30) is labeled as a Syn/Petro Blend but several of the petroleum based products tested out performed their motorcycle product and cost less. You came to the right place. We have been selling more synthetic motorcycle oils and filters than most of our other products so I will pass more savings to you. Call 1-800-579-0580 to see if we have your filter too. WARNING: Ethanol blends are not only inefficient, but can cause severe problems in your bike. We recommend the AMSOIL Performance Improver (AMSOIL PI or API-CN) to offset these problems while adding a significant boost to total combustion and reduction of added carbon deposits. AMSOIL PI works so well together with the benefits of the above engine oils you will never switch to anything else. Find out more about the severe mess ethanol has caused to motorcycles on our AMSOIL PI page. ""The ethanol is very detergent and causes dirt that's built up over years to come loose." All gas stations in Connecticut have been selling an ethanol blend since late last fall, although Mobil stations made the switch nearly a year ago and Getty outlets five years ago. MTBE (or methyl tertiary butyl ether), which has been known to contaminate drinking water, was phased out over a five-year period."" - As written in the Republican-American on Saturday April, 15th 2006 Review AMSOIL PI
AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle oils are not only priced better, but are guaranteed to last twice as long. As stated in AMSOIL Data Sheets, the 20W50 (datasheet) and 10W40 (datasheet) oils have a service life twice as long as the manufacturers suggested interval or one year. AMSOIL resists sheer, adds rust protection and lowers engine temps significantly. AMSOIL 10W40 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil (MCF) is recommended for Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki, BMW, Husqvarna and KTM calling for a 10W-40 or 20W-40 viscosity, providing superior protection in engines and transmissions. AMSOIL 20W-50 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil (MCV) is recommended for Harley-Davidson, Buell, Victory, Ducati, BMW, Aprilla and Triumph calling for a 15W-50 or 20W-50 viscosity, providing superior protection in engines, transmissions and primary chaincases.

The AMSOIL MCF 10W40 is not an improved version of the old AMF. It's been totally redesigned from ground up with only recent additive packages developed by AMSOIL. You will not find the rust and sheer protection mentioned on the data sheets in any other product, thus you will not find another product with a twice as long or one year service life! It is the next generation synthetic engine oil designed for motorcycles by the founders of synthetics. We get a lot of feedback regarding a day and night difference in throttle response, improved shifting and in hotter climates and noticeable decrease in engine temperature. As for comparisons, our customer testimonials hold more weight than our lab comparisons although they show AMSOIL superior too. Motorcycle oils thought to be in the same class never measure up to the improved feel and temperature related testimonials I get every day. Some water cooled bike owners comment on the fans cycling about 1/2 the time.
Harley Davidson customers require the best 20W-50 available designed for your bikes. When you buy AMSOIL you are buying the original synthetic from the manufactures that started the industry back in 1972. Recently I had a customer call who had switched to AMSOIL and rode along with his father with the exact same bike using Screamin' Eagle (Harley Synthetic). They both drove the same route, made the same stops and rode at the same speed. Using the dipstick thermometers, the customer running AMSOIL AMV 20W50 observed a 18*F lower oil temp than the bike running the Harley brand! We hear this daily from our customers. The New MCV which replaces the AMV enhances protection even more. AMSOIL also recommends several times yearly the use of the AMSOIL PI Performance Improver (API). This product is a concentrated fuel system cleaner but mostly improves and restores efficient motorcycle and automobile engine operation. The PI product treats 160 gallons in our 16-ounce bottle. We have feedback from our customers of measuring up to an 8% increase in mileage after using. Be sure to ask about the AMSOIL API when ordering. Recent Noted From AMSOIL Founder Al Amatuzio: (May 2005) The other day I was reviewing the April Action News and the new G-100 product catalog included in it. The products featured in this issue were our two new motorcycle oils. Anyone reading about these outstanding new oils couldn’t help be impressed by how they totally blew the competition away in head-to-head performance tests. Once again, AMSOIL outperforms the competition and puts test results that prove it right there for everyone to see. It’s also interesting that the very bike manufacturer that said not to use synthetic motor oils in their engines now sells and recommends a synthetic with their label on it. They don’t make it, but they profit from it so now it’s OK to use. That’s very similar to how the other oil companies and automakers badmouthed synthetic motor oils until they began marketing their own. Are their oils as good as AMSOIL? Not when you look at the tests! AMSOIL has a long history of making lubricants that are the very best. And the way we have shown they are the best is by testing them against the competition and publishing the results in our sales literature or right on the product labels. I don’t know of any other oil company that does this like we do. But then, I don’t know of any other oil company that makes products as good as we do, so they don’t really have as much to toot their horn about as we do. I am an Amsoil preferred customer and have been using Amsoil for about a year now and I can honestly say that Amsoil has made a difference in the performance, Mileage and quietness of my Honda VTX and all of my other engines. I had been using Mobil One and not to say that it is a bad product but it does not compare to the quality of Amsoil. I now tell anybody thinking of doing an oil change, to just give Amsoil a try, as I know they will be happy with the results. Motorcycle owners in Houston can find AMSOIL locally and save on shipping. See the AMSOIL site by Dealer and motorcycle expert Mark Godfrey, Houston, TX.
Amsoil and Land Speed Records - This applies more to Diesel owners but we want to show the quality that is put into AMSOIL over competitors products. Amsoil Motorcycle oils are and have always been priority one as the majority of our passenger car users learned about AMSOIL through use in recreational vehicles. In 2001 Hayes Diversified Technologies (HDT), located in Hesperia, California, began to produce diesel powered tactical military motorcycles for the U.S. armed services as well as the UK and EU NATO countries. Founded in 1961, the company originally manufactured electro-mechanical switches and relays to the military & aerospace industries. The new HDT motorcycles are diesel machines combining both power and environmentally friendly performance efficiency. We’re talking about a bike that gets 100 miles to the gallon AND can do 100 mph.
The HDT team was out on the Bonneville Salt Flats earlier this month striving to establish new national and world records. Displaying the AMSOIL colors while going through the paces at Bonneville, they offered up quite a number of very strong endorsements with virtually no prompting. “We noticed an increase in horsepower right away when compared to Delvac 1,” said Fred Hayes, founder/CEO of HDT. “What was quite surprising was the condition of the engine after a 50-mile run-in and over 120 full-throttle dyno runs. The camshaft bearings, the small and large end rod bearings, didn’t even look like they had been run. During that series of dyno runs, we registered the highest horse-power and torque readings ever.”
Dave Anderson, AMSOIL Technical Product Manager, had flown to Bonneville to witness and participate in the pursuit of new land speed records. (See 4 and Sept. 6 Updates) Hayes said to Anderson, “Our testing proved that AMSOIL Series 3000 5W-30 Heavy Duty Diesel Oil provided better cam bearing lubrication, better transmission operation and less blow-by than our previous oil. We picked up just over one horse power at the rear well.” This is a 3.7% increase and worth a 1 tooth higher gear ratio. “In addition, it appears that overall coolant temperature was down about five degrees.” That is roughly a 2.5% decrease in operating temperatures.
Very few bikers would be opposed to increased horsepower with lower operating temps, simply by switching over the lubricants.
“With over a year of testing, we have found that AMSOIL products continually outperform all other lubricants. AMSOIL provides improved performance, increased fuel economy, lower oil consumption, and significantly reduced engine wear in all operating conditions.”

AMSOIL Customers Appreciate Greater MPGAlthough results vary because of a variety of factors, a common denominator among AMSOIL motor oil users is an improvement in fuel economy. Independent testing reveals that AMSOIL Series 2000 0W-30 motor oil passes the API Energy Conservation Sequence VI test with a rating 38 percent higher than the API minimum specifications.
"The test results show that AMSOIL has the potential to save energy by conserving fuel," said technical Services Manager Ed Kellerman. "In most cases it can increase mileage, but at the very least you're getting superior engine protection."
Ralph Sites, a police officer in Rustburg, Va. said he put AMSOIL 10W-40 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil in its 2002 GL 1800 Honda Gold Wing when it had 4,550 miles on the engine. "I had been getting 30 miles per gallon," Sites said. His first oil change to AMSOIL, improved his mileage to 38 miles per gallon. At 6,500 miles on the engine, after replacing the final drive oil with AMSOIL Series 2000 75W-90 Gear Lube, he improved to 40 miles per gallon. "I switched to AMSOIL for the long-term gain. The improved gas mileage was just a bonus. AMSOIL is less expensive than Honda's synthetic and I don't have to change it as often. It's a win-win situation." Anybody who comes and gets the AMSOIL motor oil in their motorcycle comes back with their cars," he said. Likewise, Lance Okeson of St. Paul Minn. gained miles per gallon after switching to AMSOIL motor oil in his 1995 Cutlass Supreme. Okeson made the switch after learning about AMSOIL from a customer of his at a quick lube where he works. His customer was so enthusiastic about AMSOIL, Okeson did some research on the AMSOIL Website and decided to try the products. A trip from the Twin Cities to Fargo, ND, in a steady 17 mile-per-hour wind, and back showed him an increase from 24 mpg to 30.5 mpg. Protect your clutch, gears, valve train and other engine parts with the industry leader in motorcycle lubricants. We have it all here.

Nanofiber Basics Because the Nanofibers in AMSOIL Ea Motorcycle Air and Oil Filter media are so small, there are more pores per square inch, allowing for higher dirt-holding capacity and lower pressure drop compared to traditional filter medias. Thinner media fibers produce more uniform pore size distribution, improving the filter’s overall ability to capture and retain particles. Air Filtration Basics An engine requires air for combustion, but the air drawn in through the induction system is loaded with contaminants. There are over 400 tons of suspended dirt and other contaminants in a cubic mile of air over a typical city. The concentration can be even higher in rural areas where there is frequent travel on unpaved roads. The dirt and contaminants drawn into an engine from the air are the leading causes of engine wear. The function of the air filter is to trap and hold these wear causing contaminants without restricting air flow. As the filter traps more and more contaminants, air flow becomes restricted, smothering the engine and diminishing performance. The more wear causing contaminants a filtration media traps and holds, while still allowing optimum air flow, the better the filtration media. The Nanofiber technology used in AMSOIL Ea Filters surpasses all other technology in efficiency, capacity and service life. With AMSOIL Ea Air Filters, dust and submicron particles remain on the surface and are trapped in the Nanofibers, preventing particles from lodging in the filter media depth. This produces higher efficiency and higher capacity, extending engine and filter life and reducing engine wear. Ea Motorcycle Air Filters The filtration media in the Ea Motorcycle Air Filter is pleated and has epoxy-coated wire on the face and back of the media for additional strength and stiffness. High quality plastisol potting compounds bond the pleat packs to the plastic or aluminum side plates. The S&S (aftermarket engine and carburetor manufacturer) style round filters are manufactured with high-quality plastisol that bonds the media to the wire backing and sealing area. Superior Filtration The synthetic Nanofiber media featured in AMSOIL Ea Motorcycle Air Filters have sub-micron diameters and small inter-fiber spaces, resulting in more contaminants being captured on the surface of the media and lower restriction. Cellulose, wetted gauze and foam filters have larger spaces between the media that cause contaminants to load in the depth of the filter, resulting in airflow path plugging, higher restriction and lower capacity. Cleanable for Long Service Life AMSOIL Ea Motorcycle Air Filters are cleanable, providing unsurpassed protection and long service life. AMSOIL Ea Motorcycle Air Filters should be cleaned every year or according to operating conditions. Operation in extremely dusty or dirty environments may require more frequent cleaning. Ea Motorcycle Air Filters should be changed every four years. Cleaning Instructions AMSOIL Ea Motorcycle Air Filters are cleaned in the same manner as AMSOIL Ea Air Filters for cars and light trucks: with a vacuum or shop air. To clean with a vacuum, place the filter on a flat surface and carefully vacuum the filter media on the dirty side where the incoming airflow enters the filter. To clean with shop air, hold the filter with one hand and carefully blow the filter media at a 45-degree angle on the clean side of the filter using low-pressure (15 to 20 psi) shop air. Using too much air pressure will damage the filter media. Superior Alternative AMSOIL is producing an initial offering of eight Ea Motorcycle Air Filters manufactured for the most popular Harley Davidson models from the years 1988 to 2006, including motorcycles equipped with S&S carburetors and air cleaner housings. Oil Filtration Basics Clean oil is vital to engine performance and durability. Oil must lubricate, cool and clean the engine as it circulates. In order to remain effective, it must be filtered as it cycles. The filter is connected to the engine sump, which contains the oil pump. Full-flow filters pass all the oil output from the pump through the filter. The function of the oil filter is to remove the contaminants introduced into the lubricating oil and prevent them from reaching sensitive engine parts without restricting normal oil flow to the various points requiring lubrication. Internal sources of contamination include wear products from the rubbing surfaces of the engine, blow-by gases leaking past the rings of the pistons and degradation of the oil itself. A filter must perform well in the areas of efficiency, capacity, flow and life. Ea Motorcycle Oil Filters Ea Motorcycle Oil Filters feature a specially constructed silicone anti-drainback valve and a nitrile sealing gasket to go along with the full-synthetic Ea Nanofiber media. The anti-drain-back valve provides excellent protection during startup and remains flexible in all temperatures, and the nitrile sealing gasket resists chemical breakdown, providing excellent durability and ensuring long filter life. AMSOIL Ea Motorcycle Oil Filters are fluted for easy removal from the motorcycle and are available in a chrome-plated alternative to the normal black filters. Superior Filtration The unique construction and full-synthetic media of AMSOIL Ea Motorcycle Oil Filters allow them to provide unmatched performance in motorcycles and other power sports equipment. EaOM Filters last longer, stop smaller dirt particles and offer less restriction than other filters. Ea Motorcycle Oil Filters provide filtering efficiency of 98.7 percent at 15 microns, outperforming the best cellulose/synthetic blend media on the market. Superior Alternative, Multiple Applications AMSOIL Ea Motorcycle Oil Filters provide unsurpassed protection for motorcycles, ATVs, four-stroke personal watercraft, four-stroke snowmobiles and four-stroke outboards. AMSOIL is producing an initial offering of 16 Ea Motorcycle Oil Filters manufactured for the most popular power sports applications. Eight of the 16 filters are chrome plated. Ea Motorcycle Filters Now Available AMSOIL Ea Motorcycle Air and Oil Filters are available as of July 1. Application information can be found in the online power sports lookup at www.amsoil.com, in the G-2135 Power Sports Application Guide or proper filters may be determined when placing order WHY HARLEY OWNERS CHOOSE AMSOIL Wear Test Comparison - AMSOIL vs. Harley Screamin'' Eagle The recent introduction of Screamin'' Eagle® Synthetic Lubricant by Harley-Davidson® indicates the Motor Company has finally recognized the benefits of running synthetic motorcycle oil in their air-cooled engines. After years of advising dealers and customers to avoid using synthetic oils in their bikes, it's natural to wonder why the company is suddenly marketing one. For the past 20 years, Harley-Davidson® has claimed its petroleum-based Genuine H-D Oil is best for the "unique requirements of Harley-Davidson® air-cooled V-twin engines." However, laboratory testing has consistently revealed that Genuine H-D Oil does not provide the best protection possible for Harley-Davidson® engines. In fact, Four-Ball Wear Tests show Harley- Davidson® 20W-50 Motorcycle Oil leaves a wear scar nearly 80 percent larger than that left by AMSOIL Synthetic 20W-50 Motorcycle Oil.
Four-Ball Wear Test (ASTM D4172), 40kg pressure @ 150 degrees C, 1800 rpm for 1 hour duration April 2003 test results | The Four-Ball Wear Test is the industry's standard test method for measuring the wear preventive characteristics of a lubricant. Placed in a bath of the test lubricant, three fixed steel balls are put into contact with a fourth ball in rotating contact at preset test conditions. Lubricant wear protection properties are measured by comparing the average wear scars on the three fixed balls. The smaller the average wear scar, the better the protection. |
One of the major benefits of running a synthetic motorcycle oil is its resistance to oxidation and thermal degradation, which inhibit the formation of sludge and deposits that contribute to increased wear. In the past, Harley-Davidson® has defended use of its Genuine H-D Oil by arguing that oil breakdown in extreme heat is a non-issue because extreme heat conditions are not normally faced by motorcycle engines, while the superior cold-temperature benefits of synthetics also don't apply to Harleys. The fact is, engine oil in Harley-Davidson® motorcycles is subject to very high temperatures. Being air-cooled, Harley-Davidson® engines get especially hot while idling in traffic, commonly reaching temperatures up to 240 degrees Fahrenheit. As heat and oxidation increase, so does viscosity, adversely affecting the lubricating qualities of the oil and increasing wear. The water, soot and acid byproducts of combustion also contribute to deposit formation. Harley-Davidson® has stressed the importance of regular oil changes in order to remove these contaminants. Of course, promoting regular oil changes is also a good way to promote using petroleum-based Genuine H-D Oil. High-quality synthetic oils formulated with high-performance additives effectively withstand such contaminants, allowing motorcyclists to safely extend drain intervals. In support of their about-face and the introduction of a synthetic oil, Harley maintains that "the Motor Company has never supported the use of synthetic products in our vehicles because there has never been any test validations completed on the numerous formulations in HD/Buell motorcycles. This product has been exclusively designed for Harley-Davidson® and is the only synthetic product TESTED and CERTIFIED by Harley-Davidson® engineering for use in HD/Buell motorcycles." Although this is necessary marketing hype, Harley-Davidson® V-twin air-cooled engines are not unique in their lubrication requirements and do not require a special Harley-only fluid (see letter from Harley-Davidson). There is nothing about Screamin'' Eagle® Synthetic Motorcycle Oil that sets it apart from, or makes it better than, many other synthetic motorcycle oil formulations, except that Harley-Davidson® is marketing it and directly profiting from the sales. According to Harley-Davidson®, one of the unique benefits offered by Screamin'' Eagle® Synthetic Motorcycle Oil is its versatility. For the first time the company is recommending an oil that can be used in the engines, primary chain cases and transmissions of most Harley-Davidson® motorcycles, including Evolution XL, Evolution 1340, Twin Cam 88 and 88B, Revolution and Buell models. This feature, however, is not unique. AMSOIL 20W-50 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil may also be used in the engines, primary chain cases and transmissions of these applications, providing superior lubricating protection in each component. How does Screamin'' Eagle® Synthetic Motorcycle Oil measure up to AMSOIL in wear protection? Four-Ball Wear Test results indicate that AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oil still provides the best protection possible for motorcycles. In fact, Screamin'' Eagle® Synthetic Motorcycle Oil leaves a wear scar nearly 80 percent larger than AMSOIL 20W-50 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil. Not only does AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oil offer greater wear protection than Screamin'' Eagle® Synthetic Motorcycle Oil, it also delivers greater value. Suggested retail price of Screamin'' Eagle® is nearly $2 a quart higher than AMSOIL 20W-50 Motorcycle Oil. And because AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oil may be used for extended drain intervals of up to twice the manufacturer's suggested interval, while Screamin'' Eagle® is recommended for standard drain intervals, AMSOIL customers realize additional savings. Harley-Davidson® claims Screamin'' Eagle® Synthetic Motorcycle Oil has been "exclusively designed" for use in their motorcycles, pointing to extensive bench testing and over 230,000 miles of durability testing to back it up. AMSOIL INC. has 30 years of experience providing superior lubricating protection for all brands of motorcycles, and AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils have been tested in millions of over-the-road miles. Testimonials from countless motorcyclists further demonstrate the superiority of AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils. Formulated with top-of-the-line synthetic base stocks and high-temperature deposit control additives, AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils provide superior protection and performance for motorcycles in all operating conditions. AMSOIL Motorcycle Oils effectively withstand oxidation and thermal degradation, keep wear to an absolute minimum, hold contaminants in suspension and keep engines running cool and clean.
AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils · Reduce operating temperatures · Keep engines clean and deposit-free · Provide maximum protection against wear · Formulated without friction modifiers for smooth performance · Saves money with extended drain intervals of up to two times the manufacturers' recommendations
